Family Based Petitions

One of the most common ways to reach legal status is through a family member that has residency or citizenship. For example, if your spouse, parent, child, or sibling has documents — depending on the types of documents they have — it may be possible for you to fix papers based on your relationship with that person.

Engagement to a U.S. citizen

If you are a U.S. citizen who is engaged to someone who lives in another country, you may be able to bring your fiancé to the United States through a fiancé visa so that the two of you can get married here in the U.S. and your fiancé can obtain legal permanent residency.

Become a U.S. citizen

We encourage every person who is eligible to apply to become a citizen of the United States to do so as soon as possible. The benefits of citizenship include voting, helping more family members adjust their status (and often more quickly), and leaving the country for extended periods of time without fear of losing your residency.

Victim of a Crime

If you have been the victim of certain crimes in the U.S., you may qualify to obtain documents within the country. In some cases, we may be able to fix papers for your spouse and your children as well, regardless of whether they are in the U.S. already or they are still in their country of origin.

MISTREATMENT AT WORK

If you have experienced certain types of mistreatment at work in the U.S., you may qualify to obtain documents inside the country, even if you have negative things in your immigration history such as prior deportations, illegal entries, or border apprehensions by immigration.

MISTREATMENT BY A U.S. CITIZEN

If a U.S. citizen or resident spouse (or ex-spouse) has mistreated you, you could qualify to fix papers within the country based on certain types of problems in the relationship. We understand that family is important and you want to protect them — that is why we use a case that is completely confidential and will not affect your family member.

Mistreatment by someone else

If you were mistreated by a different person, such as a romantic partner, coyote, family member, roommate, or anyone else, regardless of that person's immigration status, you may qualify for documents within the country, depending on the level of mistreatment and other factors.

Medical deferred action

In some special situations, immigration officials will exercise their discretion to authorize certain documents through deferred action, which also provides protection from deportation. They frequently do so for people without legal status who are caring for a sick relative, such as a spouse, child, or parent.

Green card after divorce

If you have a two-year conditional green card and separate or divorce from your spouse before the two years have passed, there may be ways to help you remove the conditions on your green card so you can obtain a permanent residency. We have a proven track record fixing papers for people in this situation.
